You see I have been busy planning out this year's garden.
We started off small last year with one bed and it was a hit, so we are adding two more.
I decided to go complete nerd and grid off the beds into square foot sections. I will be doing my own version of "square foot gardening." Stay tuned.
I sent Mike on a wild goose chase today to find graph paper. As soon as I got it in my hands I started square footing away.
Mike and I are no longer on speaking terms because he spotted me pulling out the compass on my phone to make my plan even more legit. He shunned me right then and there.
Michael is over stimulated too.
He helped me prep for the temporary grid.
And he even raked out the bed.
Now all we have to do is string away.
And build 2 more beds.
I know this may seem early considering the ground hasn't even thawed, but have you ever heard of peas people? Accorded to my calculations they should be going in ASAP.

Omg. You are my idol. I so want to plant a vegetable garden, but who will build me the beds.....Mmm...maybe Liz;) I have been talking about it for years and only end up with tomatoes and basil. Can't wait to watch this unfold. Yummy, yummy! Ps you are giving me anxiety because I have not even thought about this yet!
Heidi- Don't get anxiety! I think the only thing that can really go in right now is peas:) I am just getting my plan ready because my dad is coming over in a couple of weeks to build the extra beds and I need to come up with some sort of trellis to support the peas. I think you should totally do a garden and hire Liz to help:) I found the plans for ours on Sunset.com. It is 4X8 and the perfect size.
I really want to do a bean teepee this year, but I don't really have a place for it. Maybe that's something you can do and your girls can play in it!
Whoa. You rock.
I live across from a gardner like you and it can be so intimidating.
I'm totally adding more beds. I need to do my research on sq ft gardening...
Brooke- Um calling me a "gardener" is a stretch. Don't be fooled by all my talk. I like to make myself sound more knowledgeable than I really am. By the way, I have seen pictures of your yard. AMAZING. I think you are the one with the green thumb around here:)
so cool. I just got done reading that Martha issue and LOVE the idea of a garden that you can eat from. How cool that you're doing it - and doing it the right way!
